It probably goes without saying that the villain in this novel made me mad. But the women in this novel also made me mad. The plot made me not want to put it down! My Summer Darlings by May Cobb is a good summer read: thrilling and page-turning.

Kittie, Jen and Cynthia are old friends. Growing up in the same small community near Austin, Texas, the women have a history: they love each other almost as much as they betray each other. When newcomer Will Harding moves into the neighborhood, they all find him irresistible. He's charming, good-looking, stylish, rich, and has an accent. He's also single. Jen is freshly divorced and is interested. That doesn't stop her two friends from going after Will as well, although Kittie and Cynthia are married.

May Cobb does a solid job developing her characters. That's probably why I wanted to shake each of these women multiple times during the book for being needy and not recognizing red flags. If I didn't care, I wouldn't feel that way. I felt like I was reading a soap opera but told better. The twist and very unexpected ending add to the allure of this quick, exciting, summer read. I give My Summer Darlings four stars out of five.
